FutureReadyNYC
The Urban Assembly School for Emergency Management has been selected to partner in a new initiative called FutureReadyNYC with the support of Mayor Adams and NYC Public Schools Chancellor Banks. FutureReadyNYC is powered by career-connected learning, an educational model that reimagines learning by blending classroom instruction with real-world experience, 21st century employability skills, early college credits and credentials. The goal is to bring our high school community, higher education and employer partners together to give students a head start on a pathway to successful launch into strong jobs and careers after graduating school.
As part of FutureReadyNYC, we have launched a HEALTHCARE career-connected pathway for students to explore opportunities in this industry. Through this career-connected pathway, participating students will:
- Explore a range of careers and take classes aligned to a career that interests them,
- Develop 21st century skills including digital and financial literacy,
- Get real-world, paid work experiences like internships,
- Earn early college credit and industry-validated credentials, and
- Be supported with personalized college and career planning to ensure successful transition into college and/or careers providing family-sustaining wages.
FutureReadyNYC integrates the best of college and career preparation, to successfully launch students into strong careers in high-wage, high-demand sectors. Through FutureReadyNYC, a student can graduate with career readiness skills, a strong plan, and access to early college credits and career credentials. A student will have in-depth experiences in career-connected pathways- including internships or apprenticeships- in high growth fields like healthcare and technology.
