Admissions Criteria
Welcome to The Urban Assembly Early College HS of Emergency Medicine (ECHEM)!
Open to All Students
At NYC Grades 9–14 schools, students do not need to meet any academic criteria or submit to a special screening process. NYC Grades 9–14 schools are intended for all students, particularly those who are historically underrepresented in higher education and STEM fields.
To Apply:
- Be sure to attend an Information Session or Open House at one of our schools or visit our table at a High School Fair and sign in with the school.
- Rank your NYC Grades 9–14 School selection as a top choice when you submit your high school application
- If you decide that UASEM is the right fit for you, make sure you properly rank us on your application with the High School Code M28A.
Admission Method: Ed-Opt Program
These programs are designed to serve students at a range of academic levels. We rank applicants based on our rubric using specific criteria. Offers are made based on randomly assigned numbers, and some offers are made based on ranking numbers for programs that rank applicants. UASEM selects 50% of applicants using the school’s admissions rubric, the Department of Education selects the remaining 50% of applicants using their Middle School English test scores for Priority Groups and Admissions.
Students from all five boroughs of New York City are eligible to apply to EChem , however, the majority of our students reside in the borough of Brooklyn.
We accept freshman and sophomore applicants through the Admissions process. In the 2021-2022 Academic Year we had over 1000 freshman applicants.
If you have any questions regarding the Admissions process for EChem, please email Ms. Williams at [email protected].
