Message from AP Ms. Celida Maldonado

Dear Students and Families,Maldonado

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as one of the assistant principals of the Urban Assembly School for Emergency Management.

As a school leader and educator, I strongly believe that in order to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth, we must create a welcoming and affirming educational setting with high expectations. Administration, teachers, staff, and families will collaborate with one another in order to ensure the success of our students.

In addition to our required academic course load, students will be enrolled in our R.E.A.D.Y. Lab class. R.E.A.D.Y. Lab is a service class that students in all grades take for high school credit. The course will serve as a way for students to learn the important career/life skills that can help them find success in and beyond the classroom. With a culminating community service project, R.E.A.D.Y. lab aims to teach students about the importance of our UASEM Core Values (Resilience, Empathy, Achievement Oriented, Deliberate, Your Own Ally). Lessons will focus on teaching grade appropriate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills and college and career readiness skills.

I look forward to learning more about our students as we work together to create a caring, engaging, and rigorous environment for them.

Regards,

Celida Maldonado
