American Heart Association
UASEM consistently partners with the American Heart Association.
We have participated in the American Heart Association’s 43rd Annual Wall Street Run & Heart Walk. This event is a three-mile event for runners and walkers aimed to raise awareness and funds to support the American Heart Association’s mission to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke—the nation’s number 1 and 3 killers, claiming nearly a million lives annually and more than 27,000 in New York City alone. Donations raised by racers and supporters alike go to the American Heart Association and its mission to improve the lives of Americans through better cardiovascular health, medical research, and education. UASEM students assisted the American Heart Association with Hands Only CPR demonstrations as runners returned to Brookfield Plaza after their run.
UASEM was invited to City Hall to kick off American Heart Month and amplify CPR awareness with the American Heart Association and Council Member Joseph, in collaboration with her colleagues Council Members Narcisse and Schulman, the respective chairs of the New York City Council Committees on Hospitals and Health.
We participated in a press conference, conducted a CPR demonstration, and our students delivered captivating speeches advocating for CPR training in schools under the Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act.
