Members of UASEM's Hands to Heart CPR team, Ms. Lea-Storm Roche (12th Grade) and Ms. Talyan Butler (12th grade), led by Mr. Puglisi appeared on FOX 5's Good Day New York @fox5ny with Rosanna Scotto @rosannascotto to do a live hands-only CPR demonstration.

nice to have you here so don't let's talk about women's heart health because a lot of people think breast cancer is in a Born Killer for women but it's actually it's not right it's not women die from actually from heart disease that all cancers that's including breast cancer I can mention breast cancer lung cancer and colon cancer combined we lose one woman to cardiovascular disease every 80 Seconds and that's way too many women to lose two heart attacks Two Strokes to Hartford it's unnecessary and that's why the American Heart Association is doing so much research right now because I'm fortunately too many women are under diagnosed under treated and under research can you give us an idea of what we need to look because sometimes people say they don't know the sign is a little bit different than a job at having a man who is clutching his chest always being divided to having a heart attack when a woman pushes her chest was having a panic attack with choking so we want to give him a heimlich maneuver not always the case women have a typical symptoms might write a sentence are actually shortness of breath 15 nausea abdominal discomfort some women can have chest tightness but different they won't have an elephant sitting on their chest it'll feel more like tightness around so the chest area more than the actual pressure but everybody else actually expects to have with a heart attack and to recognize early on and we can just so much according to prevention of it because 80% of cardiac disease is actually preventable so what are we need to look at 4 if you exercising and all of a sudden you cannot complete the exercise that you know that you can decide if all of a sudden you walk down the block or two that you've used to walking and now you're getting shortness of breath you're beginning to have symptoms having a heart attack you may be able to save their life by doing this explain it to us and we're going to ask the young ladies talent and trying to put a brave trying to get blood flow to the brain into the other organs at the time when your heart stops during the time of the cardiac arrest electrical component and plumbing component so Cardiac Arrest is when the electrical component of the heart that stops you have a ventricular arrhythmia or a fatal arrhythmia in the heart stops a heart attack is a plumbing problem when there is an issue with your Corden arteries and significant blockage that potentially does not allow enough blood flow to the heart a heart attack can lead to a cardiac arrest but two separate entities and it was hands up only CPR now where we used to be can I go for it there was they used to potentially be able to there's a correlation between giving to breast right and then we now know the fact that hands-only CPR is just as effective concern yourself with the breathing part of it okay bye and just keep it very very simple because all you have to do is you see somebody potentially on the ground that they're not responsive you ask somebody next to you right if you're by yourself you call 911 immediately and then you immediately start compressions right side to top their shoulders if there's no response then you take your dominant hand so they had that you write with your other hand on top of it do you want to bring your shoulders to be on top of your hands and then you just bring your weight down about 2 in into the test can you just keep doing that and I'll send someone who I called 911 already you just be waiting for additional sponsors so we keep on going and getting enough of that. heading to Baton Rouge into services to arrive right and in the back of your head is right and keep the song playing right to the way analog saying a lot right 20 beats per minute to make sure that you can I need to get that blood flow to the brain and to the rest of the body while we are actually getting some help in crisis which are absolutely going to Save a Life everybody Sugar Land storm we appreciate it as Define.
